Tips For Working From Home

Working from home is absolutely wonderful! But, believe it or not, some people have problems with it. Here are some tips that I’ve found have helped me.

1. Get showered and dressed everyday. The joy of working from home is that, technically, you can work in your p.j.’s. But, seriously, how professional do you feel? I used to work in a suit everyday, now it’s shirts, sweaters and jeans, but it’s still dressed and showered.

2. Take time for exercise. Whether a run or walk first thing in the morning or maybe an afternoon walk around the neighborhood – make sure you’re getting some physical activity. Two benefits – it will keep your weight down and you’re get some fresh air. Not to mention the benefits of how exercise can help you with ideas for your business.

3. Take time to eat. It’s easy to get carried away with a project and forget to eat. Make sure you are eating a good breakfast and lunch to keep you sharp throughout your day.

4. Keep a daily to-do list. Have things that you wish to accomplish each day. A good idea is to have weekly goals – then break them down into a few a day. It’s easy to plan too much for your day.

5. Make sure your family and friends know you are working. Some people may think that you have time to do errands for them or ask you to take on extra projects because “you’re at home all day”. Politely tell them that you are working. Your time is as valuable if you’re working from home or at another location.

6. Get a pet. I’ll admit, I’m an animal lover anyway. But, having my cat around for companionship is wonderful – and she’s great to bounce ideas off of!
